Letter of purpose from the author:

The purpose of this book is not to intimidate those that read or cause fear for the future, but to educate all of us to the teachings, of both the scriptures and the prophets concerning our future. In the promise, "if ye are prepared then ye shall not fear" is the insinuated proclamation that we familiarize ourselves to the teachings about the last days, and respond to them adequately so that in the day that the world is shrinking in panic, we, an enlightened people to God's designs, stand up with confidence, having prepared and acknowledging his mercy in times of trouble. There are so many that tell me when they discover the subject of my writing that they would rather not know what the future holds. I ask, how can that attitude be responsible? How do we expect Heavenly Father to protect us when we don't care enough to obey his pleadings to prepare to protect ourselves?

The future is coming whether we are ready or not, whether we choose to know about it or not, whether we prepare or not. The choice is clear. We need to be brave, trust in the Lord and press forward in our preparations to arm our children as well as ourselves. As we heed his warnings and prepare every needful thing we not only provide for our bodies, but we provide for our spirits. Every prophet of God has warned at one time or another that there will come a day where the light of others will not be sufficient to light our own lamps. That day is speedily coming our way. We must know our Savior and his teachings independent of others in our lives. We must be ready for that change in society, when it breaks down, when whirlwinds come and the waves heave beyond their bounds and those we love pass on. We need to stand steadfast in the face of adversity, with an eye single to God, knowing that he is, and that all his promises will be fulfilled. The Lord will have a prepared and worthy people. May we choose to obey his commands so that he might not have to buffet us for our good. Sincerely, Wendie L. Edwards
